As Kolkata prepares for the arrival of Maa Durga, United Sympathetic Hands of Relief (Ushor) unveils its soul-stirring Durga Puja 2025 initiative: “To Reach the Unreached.”
This year, Ushor moves beyond the grandeur of festivities to focus on humanity, hope, and healing. The campaign aims to bring the light of Durga Puja to people who are too often excluded — children in orphanages, the elderly, daily wage earners, specially-abled children, families in remote villages, and others living on the margins.

👗 Clothing Drive: 8,000 New Outfits for the Underprivileged
Ushor will distribute 8,000 brand-new garments to:

Orphaned children and shelter home residents

Specially-abled children

Children of sex workers

Elderly people in care homes

Families in backward rural areas of Purulia
Each outfit will serve as a symbol of respect, care, and inclusion during the festive season.
🏵️ Durga Darshan for 200 Orphan Children
A full-day cultural experience will be offered to 200 orphan children, including:

Visits to some of Kolkata’s iconic Durga Puja pandals

Healthy tiffin and lunch from top restaurants

Support from trained volunteers and caretakers

Storytelling and cultural engagement to inspire spiritual and cultural connection
This initiative is designed to leave them with joy, memory, and belonging.
🍱 500 Festive Meals for the Marginalized
Ushor will distribute 500 freshly cooked food packets during Puja to:

Street dwellers

Domestic helpers

Elderly individuals living in isolation
Prepared with care and love, these meals will serve as reminders that no one is forgotten — especially during a time of celebration.
