Kochi, June 10, 2025 — In a remarkable fusion of fandom and environmental action, the Kerala Blasters Army, the official supporters’ group of Kerala Blasters FC, completed its inspiring campaign, “A Tree for a Goal,” between June 1 and 7. This heartfelt initiative saw 52 saplings planted across Kerala, each representing one goal scored by the team across the 2024–25 football season, spanning the Durand Cup, ISL, and Super Cup.
⚽🌱 Where Every Goal Leaves a Mark on Earth
The campaign’s philosophy was simple: let every cheer echo beyond the stadium, into nature. With each goal scored by the team, a tree was planted—not just as a symbolic act, but as a living reminder of the harmony between sports and sustainability.
“This is our way of extending football’s legacy beyond the game,” said a Kerala Blasters Army representative. “A goal can change a match, but it can also change the world if it becomes a tree.”
💚 Leaders, Legends, and Loyal Fans Dig In
The campaign garnered support from across the spectrum. Kerala’s Agriculture Minister, Sri. P. Prasad, personally joined in, showcasing the government’s encouragement of grassroots environmental efforts. Alongside him was T.G. Purushothaman, assistant coach and former Santosh Trophy star, who lent his presence and planted hope with the fans.
At the heart of the mission were Army core members—Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—who coordinated events across districts, transforming fans into foot soldiers for the planet.
🌳 From the Stands to the Soil
Established in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has evolved into more than just a fan club. Known for electrifying matchdays in Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the group also stands tall for its work in blood donation drives, charity events, youth development, and now, climate awareness.
“The roar from the stands is powerful,” said coordinator Abhijith K.S., “but when that energy flows into real-world action, we create impact that lasts much longer than 90 minutes.”
🌍 Planting a Tradition
The Army’s vision doesn’t end here. The team aims to make “A Tree for a Goal” an annual ritual, inviting schools, local communities, and football academies to join the green league. Their dream? A forest grown from the passion of the beautiful game—a place where football meets future.
