Meet the incredible Anubhav Dubey, a young entrepreneur who defied the conventional path to success. While many believe that cracking exams like IIT, IIM, or UPSC is the only route to prosperity, Anubhav’s journey with Chai Sutta Bar proves otherwise.
Born in 1996 in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, Anubhav faced the expectation of following in his father’s footsteps to become an IAS officer. However, life had different plans for him. Despite not making it through competitive exams, Anubhav’s determination led him to discover his true calling – entrepreneurship.
Teaming up with his co-founder, Anand Nayak, in 2016, Anubhav started their tea venture with just Rs 3 lakhs. The first Chai Sutta Bar opened opposite a girls’ hostel in Indore, introducing a unique experience for tea lovers.
Challenges were abundant, with limited funds for marketing and interior design, but Anubhav and Anand didn’t back down. They embraced the idea of ‘Taste The Kulhad Chai’ in a bar-like setting, emphasizing health by strictly prohibiting smoking. This innovative blend of rich Indian culture and modern touch became a hit, making Chai Sutta Bar the go-to destination for tea enthusiasts nationwide.
In the early days, resources were scarce, but Anubhav and Anand’s creativity knew no bounds. With borrowed items and second-hand furniture, they crafted the first outlet, proving that a groundbreaking idea doesn’t require a hefty budget. A simple wooden board with the handwritten name “Chai Sutta Bar” became their initial branding, resonating remarkably well with the youth.
Word-of-mouth marketing fueled their success, drawing customers to the smoke-free environment and the brand’s health-conscious approach. The commitment to serving chai in traditional kulhads aligned perfectly with the aspirations of the younger generation.
Chai Sutta Bar’s triumph didn’t stop there. From humble beginnings, the brand expanded rapidly, in India, Dubai, and Oman.
Beyond just business success, Chai Sutta Bar’s commitment to the environment stands out. The brand supports 250 potter families who produce kulhads, showcasing a dedication to sustainable practices that benefit local communities.
Anubhav’s remarkable journey from facing academic setbacks to co-founding a 100-crore company showcases the power of perseverance, passion, and the ability to spot opportunities where others see obstacles. Despite not entering prestigious institutions, his entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to create a brand that resonates with India’s youth.
As Chai Sutta Bar continues to make its mark on the café scene, Anubhav Dubey’s story will inspire generations. It encourages us to pursue our dreams, embrace our unique strengths, and forge our own path to success, regardless of the challenges we encounter along the way.
